Caustic surface

A three-dimensional surface formed by the envelope of light rays that have been reflected or refracted by a curved object. This surface represents the region where light rays converge and their intensity is significantly enhanced. The complex patterns of light seen on the bottom of a swimming pool are an example of a caustic surface.
