Dive

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001766

A steep, nose-down descent by an aircraft, performed either intentionally as a maneuver or unintentionally due to a loss of control. In a controlled dive, the pilot uses flight controls to manage airspeed and descent rate, while an uncontrolled dive can lead to exceeding the aircraft's structural or speed limitations. The maximum operating speed, or Vne (velocity never exceed), is marked on the airspeed indicator.
