Eke

A shallow, rim-like wooden frame placed on top of a beehive body or super, directly under the hive cover. Its primary function is to create additional space for feeding, ventilation, or applying treatments without disturbing the main brood or honey storage areas. An eke has no internal frames and its dimensions match the length and width of the hive box it sits upon, such as a Langstroth or National hive.
