Queen excluder

A grate or screen with precisely sized openings that allows worker bees to pass through but prevents the larger queen bee from entering certain sections of a beehive. Beekeepers use it to confine the queen to the brood chamber, keeping the honey supers free of brood. The typical gap size is around 0.163 inches (4.14 mm).
