Queen-cage
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004632
A small, screened box used by beekeepers to contain and transport a queen bee, with or without a few attendant worker bees. It allows the hive's bees to become accustomed to the new queen's pheromones before she is released, reducing the risk of rejection. The cage has a plug, made of candy, that the bees eat through to release the queen over several days.
