Feed dog
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002211
A mechanism found on sewing machines, consisting of small, toothed bars that rise and fall through slots in the needle plate. These teeth grip the fabric and move it forward in precise increments with each stitch, controlling the stitch length. The feed dog's movement is synchronized with the needle and presser foot to maintain even tension and consistent stitching.
