Flasher

An electrical device in a vehicle that intermittently completes and breaks a circuit to cause the turn signal lights or hazard lights to flash. It typically contains a bimetallic strip or an electronic circuit that heats and cools, or switches, to create the blinking action. A malfunctioning flasher unit can cause turn signals to stay on or not work at all.
