Funnel box

A container with a tapering, funnel-shaped bottom used in mining and material handling to guide the flow of ore, rock, or other bulk materials. It is positioned at a transfer point, such as below a chute or at the top of a raise, to direct material into mine cars, skips, or onto a conveyor belt. The sloped sides prevent material from building up and blocking the opening.
