Gate array

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002523

A type of semiconductor integrated circuit where the logic gates are pre-fabricated in a regular array, but the interconnections between them are customized by the user during the final manufacturing steps. This approach allows for faster prototyping and lower non-recurring engineering costs compared to full-custom designs. Gate arrays are suitable for applications requiring moderate complexity and production volumes.
