Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002432
An acronym for Field-Programmable Gate Array, an integrated circuit containing a matrix of configurable logic blocks and programmable interconnects. Unlike an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), an FPGA can be reprogrammed by a designer or user after manufacturing to implement a desired digital logic function. FPGAs are specified by their number of logic elements or cells, which can range from several thousand to many millions.
