A specialized processor circuit designed to carry out operations on floating-point numbers with high speed and precision. A Floating-Point Unit (FPU), also known as a math coprocessor, handles complex mathematical calculations required in industrial robotics, process simulation, and advanced sensor data analysis. Modern CPUs integrate the FPU into the main processor die, whereas older systems used a separate coprocessor chip on the motherboard.
