Clock speed

The rate at which a processor or other digital circuit executes its internal operations, expressed in cycles per second, or hertz. It determines how many instructions or data transfers can occur within a given time frame. Modern processors typically operate at clock speeds in the gigahertz range, such as 3.5 GHz.
