Clock skew
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001165
The difference in arrival times of a clock signal at different components or flip-flops within a synchronous digital circuit. This variation can arise from differences in wire lengths, gate delays, or loading effects across the clock distribution network. Excessive clock skew can lead to setup and hold time violations, causing incorrect data capture and system malfunction.
