Coprocessor

A specialized electronic circuit or processor designed to supplement the functions of the primary central processing unit (CPU). It performs specific tasks, such as floating-point arithmetic or graphics processing, more efficiently than the main CPU. Early personal computers often used math coprocessors to accelerate calculations.
