Gigajoule

A multiple of the joule, the SI derived unit for energy, work, or quantity of heat, equal to one billion (10^9) joules. This unit is frequently used in the energy industry to quantify large amounts of energy consumption or production, such as the energy content of fuels or the output of power plants. One gigajoule is equivalent to approximately 278 kilowatt-hours.
