Femtojoule
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002230
An SI derived unit representing an amount of energy, work, or heat, equivalent to one quadrillionth (10⁻¹⁵) of a joule. The femtojoule (fJ) is used in fields such as ultrafast laser physics, telecommunications, and integrated circuit design to quantify very small energy transfers. For example, the switching energy of a single transistor in a modern microprocessor is measured in femtojoules.
