Picosecond

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004294

A unit of time equal to one trillionth (10^-12) of a second. This extremely short interval is used in fields like high-speed electronics, laser physics, and chemical kinetics to measure phenomena such as microprocessor clock cycles, the duration of ultrashort laser pulses, and molecular vibrations. A picosecond is one thousand times longer than a femtosecond and one thousand times shorter than a nanosecond.
