Nanosecond

One billionth of a second, a unit of time represented by the symbol ns. It measures events of extremely short duration, such as the time it takes for light to travel a short distance or the cycle time of a high-speed computer processor. Light travels approximately 30 centimeters (about one foot) in a single nanosecond in a vacuum.
