Femtosecond

A unit of time equal to one quadrillionth of a second, or 10⁻¹⁵ seconds. This extremely short duration is used to measure phenomena occurring on an atomic or molecular timescale, such as the speed of chemical reactions or the propagation of light pulses. A femtosecond (fs) relates to a second as a second relates to approximately 31.71 million years.
