Jiffy

An informal unit of time, defined in electronics and computing as the duration of one cycle of the computer's system timer interrupt. This period is not standardized and varies by operating system and hardware platform, ranging from about 1 to 10 milliseconds. In electrical engineering, it can also denote the time for one cycle of an AC power source, which is 1/60th of a second in the US.
