Jibhead

The assembly at the outer end of a jib or boom on a piece of mining machinery, such as a conveyor or shearer loader. It houses the pulleys, sprockets, or cutting drums that engage with the chain, belt, or coal face. On a longwall shearer, the jibhead contains the gearing and bearings for the rotating cutting drum that shears coal from the seam.
