Jib

A triangular staysail set forward of the foremast on a sailing vessel. It is typically attached to the forestay and controlled by sheets that lead aft to the cockpit or deck. The jib contributes significantly to a sailboat's propulsion and maneuverability, especially when sailing upwind.
