Jhum

A traditional agricultural practice, also known as shifting cultivation or slash-and-burn agriculture, where forest vegetation is cleared and burned to create temporary farmland. The ash enriches the soil for a few seasons before the land is left fallow to regenerate. This method is prevalent in some tropical and subtropical regions, particularly in Northeast India.
