Open-field system

A historical agricultural system prevalent in medieval Europe where farmland was divided into numerous small, unfenced strips, often owned by different individuals, within large common fields. Farmers cultivated their strips according to a communal rotation of crops and fallow periods. This system facilitated shared resources and labor but limited individual innovation in crop management.
