Strip cropping

A method of farming where different crops are grown in alternating strips, typically along the contours of a slope. This technique reduces soil erosion by slowing down water runoff and trapping eroded soil particles. Strips of close-growing crops like hay or wheat are alternated with row crops such as corn or soybeans.
