Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005888

An agroforestry system in which agricultural crops are temporarily cultivated in the early years of a new forest plantation. Farmers are allowed to raise food crops between the rows of young trees, providing weed control for the saplings in exchange for use of the land. Once the tree canopy closes and shades out the ground, agricultural cropping ceases.
