Shearing

The process of cutting or breaking away a section of a mineral seam or rock face using a specialized machine equipped with rotating cutting drums or picks. This method is commonly employed in underground coal mining, particularly with longwall shearers, to extract large volumes of material. Shearing creates a continuous cut along the working face.
