Glare
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002583
A visual condition where excessive contrast or brightness within the field of view causes discomfort or a reduction in the ability to see detail. Discomfort glare causes an instinctive desire to look away, while disability glare impairs the vision of objects without necessarily causing discomfort. Glare is quantified using metrics such as Unified Glare Rating (UGR), with lower values indicating better visual comfort in interior lighting design.
