Grain engulfment

The hazardous situation where a person becomes submerged in flowing or shifting grain within a storage structure like a bin, silo, or grain cart. The rapid movement of grain can quickly trap and suffocate an individual, as the force required to pull someone out can exceed hundreds of pounds. Safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and fall protection, are mandated by OSHA to prevent these incidents.
