Highball

A hand signal used in rail operations, traditionally made by a raised arm, indicating that a train is cleared to proceed at maximum authorized speed. This signal communicates an unrestricted movement authority to the locomotive engineer. The term originates from early railway signaling where a ball raised high on a mast indicated a clear track.
