High-entropy alloy
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002834
An alloy composed of five or more principal elements in near-equiatomic proportions, leading to a high configurational entropy. This high entropy can stabilize simple solid solution phases, such as face-centered cubic or body-centered cubic, rather than forming complex intermetallic compounds. These alloys often exhibit exceptional mechanical properties, including high strength and ductility.
