Implicit modeling

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002984

A method of creating three-dimensional geometric models where the shape is defined by a mathematical function that evaluates to zero on the surface of the object. Unlike explicit modeling, which defines surfaces directly, implicit models are often used for complex, organic shapes and for operations like Boolean unions and intersections. This approach is prevalent in medical imaging and computer graphics.
