LAPD

A data link layer protocol used for communication over the D channel of an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) interface. The Link Access Procedure on the D-channel is responsible for the reliable, error-free transmission of signaling and control information between the user's terminal equipment and the network switch. It operates in a balanced mode, where both the terminal and the network can initiate data transfers, and is specified in ITU-T Recommendation Q.921.
