Network interface card

An expansion card or integrated circuit that allows a computer or other network-enabled device to connect to a network. It provides the physical layer and data link layer functions for network communication. Modern network interface cards (NICs) often support Ethernet standards and can operate at speeds up to 100 Gigabit per second.
