Primary rate interface

An Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) telecommunication standard for carrying multiple voice and data transmissions between a network and a user. A primary rate interface circuit consists of multiple channels on a single line, connecting private branch exchanges to the public switched telephone network. In North America and Japan, a PRI T1 line provides 23 bearer channels and one data channel, while the European E1 standard provides 30 bearer channels and one data channel.
