Private branch exchange

A private telephone network used within a company or organization, allowing internal calls between users and sharing a limited number of external lines for calls to the public switched telephone network. Modern PBXs often handle both voice and data traffic over IP networks. This system reduces the number of external lines required, lowering communication costs.
