A private branch exchange, which is a telephone switching system that serves a specific business or office, as opposed to a common carrier or telephone company. It allows for internal calls between stations without using the external phone network and provides shared access to a limited number of external lines. Modern systems are digital or IP-based and integrate with voice, data, and video communication services.
