A technology that converts analog audio signals into digital packets for transmission over an Internet Protocol (IP) network. This allows telephone calls to be made over the internet, bypassing traditional public switched telephone networks. Voice over IP (VoIP) services can offer cost savings and advanced features like call forwarding and voicemail to email.
