Liquate

To separate a lower-melting point component from a higher-melting point component in an alloy by heating it to a temperature where only the former melts. This process is a form of metallurgical refining used to remove impurities or recover valuable metals. Liquation is often employed in the purification of tin, lead, and other non-ferrous metals.
