Locking room

A secure enclosure, typically located beneath or adjacent to a signal box, that houses the mechanical interlocking equipment of a lever frame. This room contains the rods, cranks, and other mechanisms that connect the levers to the points and signals on the track. Access to the locking room is restricted to authorized personnel for maintenance.
