Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003555
A plate, constructed from wood or metal, onto which the cope and drag halves of a casting pattern are mounted for sand molding. The match plate precisely aligns the two pattern halves and locates them within the molding flask, simplifying the process of ramming sand around the pattern. This method is common in machine molding for high-volume production runs where consistency and speed are required.
