An abbreviation for Machine Glazed, referring to a type of paper or board that has a high gloss finish on one side and a rougher finish on the other. This finish is achieved by drying the paper against a large, highly polished heated cylinder called a Yankee dryer. MG paper is often used for packaging, labels, and posters where a smooth, shiny surface is desired.
