Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003707

A unit prefix representing one million, derived from the Roman numeral M for one thousand multiplied by itself. It is widely used in the energy industry to quantify large volumes, such as MMcf for one million cubic feet of natural gas or MMbbl for one million barrels of oil. This notation avoids ambiguity with the metric prefix M for mega, which also means one million.
