Overfrequency

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004071

A condition in an alternating current (AC) electrical grid where the system's operating frequency exceeds its nominal or set point. This deviation can occur due to an imbalance between generation and load, specifically when generation significantly surpasses demand. Overfrequency can lead to equipment damage and grid instability, necessitating protective measures like generator tripping.
