Overpulse

A pulse of energy, voltage, or current that momentarily exceeds a specified nominal or threshold value. In some applications, such as laser material processing or component testing, a controlled overpulse is applied intentionally to achieve a specific effect. An uncontrolled overpulse, however, is a fault condition that can cause damage to sensitive electronic components or disrupt system operation.
