OPD

An apparatus that interrupts current flow when it exceeds a predetermined value for a specific duration, protecting conductors and equipment from damage. An Overcurrent Protective Device (OPD) operates to open a circuit during fault conditions such as short circuits or overloads. The National Electrical Code (NEC) specifies the requirements for selecting and installing these devices based on conductor ampacity and equipment ratings.
