Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004090
An unintended or incorrect gear selection in a manual transmission, where the driver attempts to shift into a higher gear but accidentally selects a lower gear. This can cause the engine to rev excessively high, potentially leading to severe engine damage due to over-revving. Overshifts are a common cause of engine failure in racing.
