A pattern consisting of crisscrossing horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colors, forming squares and rectangles. In textile manufacturing, plaid patterns are created by weaving different colored yarns in a specific sequence in both the warp and weft directions. This design is widely used for clothing, blankets, and home furnishings, with tartan being a specific type of plaid.
