A common set of underlying structural components, chassis, and sometimes powertrain elements shared across multiple vehicle models or brands. This approach allows manufacturers to reduce development and production costs by standardizing parts and engineering. Many different body styles, such as sedans, SUVs, and hatchbacks, can be built on the same platform.
