C-pillar

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001403

A roof support post behind the rear seat area, running from the roofline down to the rear body and framing the rear window or tailgate opening. It adds rigidity to the cabin and is the third pillar counted from the front, after the A-pillar and B-pillar. Wagons and many large SUVs add a fourth, D-pillar further back, so the C-pillar is the rearmost pillar only on sedans, coupes and hatchbacks.
